The
Difference Between Arabica Coffee Beans
While there are several different coffee species, two of
the main currently continue to be cultivated. Coffea arabica, known as
Arabica coffee, today accounts for up to 75 or 80 % of this planet’s
production.
Coffee canephora, known as Robusta coffee, captures around 20%. It
differs from Arabica coffees more in taste then strength or color.
While these beans are more robust than Arabica plants, produce inferior beverage taste with higher caffeine content. Both
Robusta and Arabica coffee plants are able to grow to above average
heights when pruned. No matter, producing countries will still maintain
the coffee plant at heights reasonably easy for harvest.
